Over the course of the day, there have been a few updates regarding the potential loan taking Alejo Véliz from Tottenham to Sevilla.

The youngster was bought by Spurs last summer, and was always viewed as a signing for the future, which is why a loan made a lot of sense.

Sevilla were the ones to seemingly jump at the opportunity, with a number of reports showing some confidence that the deal could get done before the end of the day, although ABC Sevilla appear to pour a bit of cold water on it all.

They explain that while the Tottenham striker is ‘the chosen one’ to help the La Liga club out in the second half of the season, ‘there are doubts’ regarding what he can bring.

That’s because the 20-year-old came off injured holding his knee just before the end of 2023 in a clash against Brighton, with Ange Postecoglou then saying the recovery would take two months.

This worries Sevilla a bit, since that would mean, if everything goes to plan, that he won’t be available until the end of February.

ABC Sevilla explained this is why he is now an option ‘difficult to justify taking into account’ at this stage of the club’s season, since they are in need of immediate impact and can hardly afford waiting for him to be back to full fitness.

Whether this scuppers the move remains to be seen, but the latest report was the Tottenham forward was quite optimistic would happen.

Time will tell…
