England face Spain on Saturday in the UEFA Nations League, and the Spanish media have been building up to it all week.
With the kick-off drawing closer, Marca realised they needed to get in a Harry Kane transfer reference and have done so on Friday.
To be fair to the Spanish media, at no point have they pushed the Kane to Real Madrid rumour more than their colleagues in England. But it has been mentioned.
The reasoning for Marca and others not going big on a Kane transfer is largely Daniel Levy and his reputation in the transfer market.
That’s touched upon again today as it’s explained the great clubs of Europe have asked about signing Tottenham’s striker, but the price Levy would demand has largely cooled interest.
On top of that, Marca explain there remains doubt over whether an English footballer can succeed ‘out of his natural habitat’.
Gareth Bale, who they throw in the same section for this purpose, has had an up and down time since moving from Tottenham and that’s underlined a belief for some in the country that the English don’t travel well.
