Manchester City have ‘put’ Ajax’s Ryan Gravenberch on their transfer ‘wish list’, according to Soccernews.
The midfielder has featured 28 times in all competitions this season, managing a goal and four assists in the process. Even before the start of this campaign, he attracted interest from elsewhere.
However, the 19-year-old decided to continue his development with the Eredivisie side, at least until the end of this term.
His contract expires in 2023, and there has hardly been any progress made so far in negotiations between the Amsterdam club and Mino Raiola. The super-agent wants a relatively low release clause, which is something Ajax were ‘not immediately interested in’.
The Netherlands international’s contract situation, therefore, ‘forces him to make a choice’ next summer. Ajax will also have to ‘act quickly’, if they want to make cash.
With Gravenberch attracting interest from Pep Guardiola’s side and other top clubs, Ajax may find it difficult to retain the teenager beyond this campaign.
Staying in the Netherlands, and Voetbal International explain Feyenoord ‘want’ to sign Philippe Sandler before the January window closed on Monday. The defender has returned to City after his loan stay at Troyes was cut short.
If the Dutch club were to sign the centre-back, it will help Feyenoord manager Arne Slot have more options in the heart of defence.
Marcos Senesi and Gernot Trauner are the two regulars, with Lutsharel Geertruida as an alternative. New signing Jorrit Hendrix can operate as a centre-back, but his preferred position is in midfield.
Algemeen Dagblad are also reporting Feyenoord are ‘thinking’ of reinforcing their defence with Sandler. He is not included in Guardiola’s plans at the Etihad and if the City player were to join Feyenoord, then AD state they will then allow Ramon Hendriks to go elsewhere.
