Spanish newspaper Marca reckon Sevilla’s Monchi won’t be able to read the newspapers at breakfast without finding out more about interest in Steven N’Zonzi.
Monchi, Sevilla’s director of sport, played a big part in the club signing N’Zonzi from Stoke City, but now he’s becoming more and more aware of interest from Manchester City and others.
Guardiola clearly isn’t happy with his lot at Manchester City and additions during the January transfer window would surprise nobody.
It can be hard to recruit quality players during the winter window, especially those in form, but with N’Zonzi it would look to be a case of paying his €30m clause, as long as the Frenchman would be keen on a move himself.
Tonight could be very important indeed, with Sevilla travelling to play Real Madrid. A great performance at the Santiago Bernabeu could be just the nudge interested clubs need to move for N’Zonzi.
Sevilla are keen to hold off Manchester City and others and want N’Zonzi to renew his contract, for which he’d get a pay rise but be expected to agree to a higher clause.
