There was always going to be one player who was going to miss out tonight’s clash between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, and that man is Thomas Delaney.
According to Bild journalist Sven Westerschulze, the Dane has failed the pass the fitness tests ahead of the game and will miss the return leg of an important Champions League fixture ‘due to injury’ in what is a ‘bitter’ blow for the Germans.
The good news for Borussia Dortmund, however, is that both Marco Reus and Mats Hummels are fit and could feature from the off in Edin Terzić’s side on Wednesday evening.
The Bundesliga side welcome Manchester City in an attempt to turn over a 2-1 deficit from last week’s game, and the availability of the aforementioned two will certainly go a long way in their hopes of doing that.
While Delaney only came off the bench in the previous Champions League game, he did play all 90 minutes in the 3-2 win over Stuttgart at the weekend and will have been hoping to have done enough to make the starting XI tonight.
