Southampton’s Roméo Lavia is the ‘main target’ for Liverpool to reinforce their midfield.
That’s according to La Dernière Heure, who say ‘doors are opening’ for the 19-year-old to join the Reds.
It’s claimed the Southampton player is observing things from a distance, watching interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal evolve. He’s ‘on alert’, waiting for a call from his agent.
A move to London seems unlikely because the midfielder is not the main target for the Gunners or the Blues. Jürgen Klopp and his side, on the other hand, have identified him as a ‘priority’ target.
Liverpool could see both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho move to Saudi Arabia and their exits will force them to bring in a new midfielder. This is where the Southampton man fits in as he’s appreciated by Klopp.
It’s claimed the Merseyside club have to convince Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
DH state the Saints are ‘very greedy’ and would demand close to €60m for the Belgian, which Liverpool are unwilling to pay.
The report explains that ‘time and patience’ is on both Lavia and Liverpool’s side for the potential deal because Southampton have to get rid of some of their players this summer.
