Manchester United are still ‘eyeing’ a move for Sevilla star Jules Kounde this summer, with him likely to leave the Spanish side.

That’s according to Marca, who say the Frenchman will have his bags packed and ready to leave in June when an offer arrives.

The newspaper explains that this season has been something of an indifferent one for Kounde, who initially struggled after a failed move to Chelsea.

He’s since refocused and remained a key player for Sevilla, helping them towards their targets and establishing himself for France under Didier Deschamps.

That’s seen him add ‘maturity’ to his game, and the suitors are lining up once again to try and sign him.

Manchester United are one of them, with them long-term admirers of the centre-back and planning a rebuild in the summer now that Erik ten Hag has been confirmed as their new manager.

Unlike in the past, when Sevilla blocked possible departures, United will find the La Liga side keen to do a deal as their need for a big sale is ‘gigantic’.

They’ve spent the last few years resisting big departures and handing new deals to players, something which now needs to be covered for in the finances.

Indeed, part of the reason Kounde wanted to leave last year was because he had seen several teammates given new deals while he wasn’t.

It was because of that he decided to leave, but it was blocked by Sevilla, and he’s since spent this season consolidating himself ahead of a move this year instead.

The door is now ‘wide open’ for him to get that move, and he wants to ‘pack his bags’ in June, with Manchester United ‘eyeing’ him up.
