Angers season is now over. Saturday’s disappointing, although much expected, 1-0 loss to PSG in the French Cup Final brought their proceedings to a close, and now is the time for transfer business.
Unfortunately for Angers, transfer business usually means starting with players going out, and often ones they’d rather keep with the club. One of the likeliest leavers this summer is Nicolas Pepe, who the club did well to keep hold of during the January window.
L’Equipe once again link Newcastle United with the player, and they’re now the only English club mentioned. Rafael Benitez’s side will face competition from Lille, Lyon, and AS Monaco.
The status of a transfer is that ‘the door is open’ as long as Newcastle United, or anyone else, put forward a ‘significant offer’ for the player.
Pepe is 22 years of age and has mainly played on the right side of attack for Angers this season. He has a contract until June 2019, so this won’t be a cut price deal for Benitez.
