Beşiktaş Sporting Director Ceyhun Kazancı has confirmed they are negotiating with Brentford over a deal for striker Halil Dervişoğlu but are yet to find an agreement with the Bees.
Kazancı has been speaking in a press conference, relayed by NTV Spor, in Türkiye regarding Beşiktaş’ plans for this summer transfer window and their efforts so far.
They’ve been linked with a move for Brentford striker Dervişoğlu since the beginning of last month, when it was made clear they were trying to negotiate a potential free transfer.
That’s continued to be pushed since then, with it later explained that Beşiktaş were attempting to sign the forward, who spent last season on an unsuccessful loan spell at Burnley, on a free transfer with a percentage of a future sale included.
The belief was that there was a deal there to be done, with Dervişoğlu not a part of Thomas Frank’s plans at Brentford and keen on the move, something Beşiktaş were looking to take advantage of.
It seems their efforts have been in vain so far, though, and Kazancı has explained where things stand at this moment in time.
“For Halil Dervişoğlu, his club Brentford asked for a transfer fee of €2m,” he said.
“We do not want to pay a testimonial fee. We offered a 30% share from the next sale; they did not accept it. We are now waiting for Halil.”
