Despite reports that Tottenham were edging ever closer to signing Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna, the last few days have been relatively quiet regarding this particular transfer story.
The Italian media are far more preoccupied about Marko Arnautovic potentially being signed than the Japanese defender leaving for Spurs, and that appears to be the case within the Serie A club as well.
Riccardo Bigon, the club’s director of football, was asked a few questions about the two ongoing transfer sagas on Thursday, and his reply, while promising for the striker, wasn’t quite as optimistic for Fabio Paratici and co. regarding Tomiyasu.
He said, relayed by Corriere di Bologna: “At least four clubs are looking at him. We don’t need to undersell, so if there is a suitable closure for everyone, fine, otherwise, no. We will look for meeting points”.
It seems that Tottenham, despite all their reported efforts, still haven’t given Bologna the money they want for their star defender, and more is needed from the Premier League club if they are to get their man.
Said to be asking for €25m for a player capable of playing both at the heart of the defence or as a right-back, the Serie A club aren’t asking for the moon, which begs the question: what are Tottenham doing?
