With most of the European media today focused on the European games that are taking place this week, there’s big coverage from the Italian press about Napoli’s clash against Leicester City in the Europa League.
There’s been a lot of talk regarding the Serie A side’s trip to England, especially about those who’ll be available for the match. And it turns out that Calcio Napoli 24 managed to get an unusual story with a player’s agent before the game.
The TV channel interviewed Olaf Bonales Ferrera, representative of Leicester City striker Ayoze Perez. The official not only talked about the favourites to win the match, but also referred to transfer business as well.
A couple of years ago, the Spaniard had been linked to Napoli, and the agent was quizzed about the possibility of a move to Italy.
“He had a €30m release clause at Newcastle, it’s impossible to compete on the market with English clubs,” said Ferrera (via Napoli Magazine).
“He really likes Napoli and Italian football, but Leicester is a great option for him right now. For now he has another two years of contract, we don’t know the future: he’s 28 years old, when he will be 30 he’d be free and it would certainly not be a problem for the Italian league. Maybe…”
And when questioned about who he thinks will win the game at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night, Ferrera didn’t try to support his own client.
“Napoli, because of their history. Leicester are a young team on an international level, with little experience but great players. However, Napoli are part of recent history in Europe, for me they are the favourite in the group. Thursday will be an intense match, let’s see what happens.”
