One of the big question marks at Manchester City and in the whole of Belgium at the moment is the future of Lukas Nmecha.
The young striker took the Jupiler Pro League by storm this season with Anderlecht, to such an extent that he is now wanted by a few other clubs as well.
Vincent Kompany and co. would ideally like to keep him longer, but with a contract at Manchester City due to expire in 2022, a new loan is out of the question.
His price will have most certainly gone up, and the belief in Belgium is that he’s now out of reach for Anderlecht unless the Premier League champions give them some kind of discount.
However, that is something Kompany, regardless of his past history with Manchester City, doesn’t expect them to do.
Relayed by DH, he said: “We will see after the playoffs. I don’t want to discuss this now and add pressure on him. The matter is no longer in my hands because we are talking about transfer compensation and the management deal with that.
“Everyone here is a fan of him. We made him better this season and he made us better. Don’t expect a gift from Manchester City. The people at that club are smart”.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, but the bottom line is Anderlecht want to keep him and they’ll be needing some help from Kompany’s friends to get a deal over the line.
