One of the big questions marks over at Chelsea going into the summer will be the future of Romelu Lukaku.
Unable to work with Thomas Tuchel, the Belgian striker was sent back on loan to Inter Milan in hope that he could find his old form again, but that hasn’t happened, and there are now serious doubts about a stay in Italy, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Italian website look at the Serie A side’s struggling attack, and cannot help but wonder about the Chelsea loanee.
They recall that Beppe Marotta has already publicly stated the player would return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, at which point everything will be assessed to see if a new deal can be struck with the Blues.
The problem is time is of the essence, because in order to benefit from the famous Growth Decree, a new agreement needs to be reached by July 1st.
Still, ‘the message in the bottle is deciphered quickly’, and that’s the fact the Chelsea striker ‘has not done enough to convince’ those in charge at Inter that they should ‘make sacrifices’ to keep him around longer than the current campaign.
Having spent £26m to have him this season, that’s said to be a deal ‘done and finished’, strongly hinting Chelsea will have to make a big decision when it comes to Lukaku in the summer.
