Liverpool now have a ‘done deal’ for the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai, the German media says.
Leipziger Volkszeitung journalist Guido Schäfer claims there’s now an agreement between the Reds and RB Leipzig for the 22-year-old’s transfer.
Not revealing the amount paid by Liverpool, the reporter only claims Szoboszlai ‘will play for the Reds’ once he signs the contract of ‘four or five’ years.
It had actually been Newcastle United who were more frequently linked to the midfielder, and only more recently, Liverpool started getting mentioned as contenders for the signing.
Earlier this week, we saw Sky Deutschland claiming the Reds were showing ‘concrete’ interest in the signing, with Jurgen Klopp looking to reinforce their midfield this summer.
Szoboszlai is believed to have a €70m release clause in his contract with RB Leipzig, and it will be no surprise if that’s how much Liverpool are paying to buy him.
The Hungarian midfielder left RB Salzburg for the Bundesliga side on a €22m deal in January 2021. Since then, his success in Germany gave him a big attention from the transfer market, with Liverpool now apparently winning the race.
