Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira has reportedly renewed his contract with the club.
As reported by Portuguese outlet O Jogo this afternoon, the youngster has now extended his deal until 2021, adding an option for a further year.
Pereira was much linked with a move to Benfica earlier this year, but his will was always to stay at Manchester United and hope to get a chance in the future.
After spending the first half of last season on loan at Portuguese side Belenenses, Pereira was called back by José Mourinho. He’s made two appearances for Manchester United since then, and was unfortunate to have a knee injury soon after his comeback to the club.
Mourinho recently said Pereira will be ‘one of the best Portuguese goalkeepers of his generations’, something that created a big impact in the Portuguese media. Despite being born in Switzerland, he’s been a Portuguese international from the youth levels onwards.
