There’s now a ‘done deal’ between Leeds United and Borussia Mönchengladbach for the transfer of Maximilian Wöber, according to reports from Germany.
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg claims the 25-year-old will join the Bundesliga side on a loan deal.
Borussia Mönchengladbach will be paying Leeds around €500k for the loan, although it’s unlikely the agreement will include an option to buy.
The operation seems very close to being concluded, with Plettenberg claiming that the medical should take place ‘in the next 48 hours’, and the German club have the announcement scheduled for Monday.
The journalist also highlights how Wöber had been a ‘desired’ centre-back that the Borussia Dortmund chiefs had been looking for.
It had just been months since the defender was bought by Leeds, who spent €12m to take him from RB Salzburg in the January transfer window.
Following the Whites’ relegation to the Championship, there’s been a long list of departures at the club.
Rodrigo, Robin Koch, Tyler Roberts, Joel Robles, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, and Marc Roca all had their exits confirmed, and there’ll certainly be more to come.
