Fabio Paratici is now ‘one step away’ from a return to Tottenham Hotspur, with Igli Tare favourite to take over as director of football at AC Milan.

That’s according to Il Giorno, who report that Tare is back in pole position to be the new sporting director at Milan. An agreement is believed to be in the final stages, and a meeting is expected between him and the club soon.

Il Giorno explain that Tare was among the first names explored alongside Andrea Berta, now at Arsenal, and Fabio Paratici.

The latter came very close to making the move but is now ‘one step away’ from returning to Tottenham instead.

That’s left Tare as the frontrunner and Milan chief Giorgio Furlani even went to Rome in mid-April to meet him about the move. An appointment is now in sight, particularly with Paratici seemingly on his way back to Tottenham.

What role he will be given at Spurs isn’t mentioned, with Johan Lange, the man who replaced him at Tottenham, still in a role as technical director.

Either way, in Italy at least, they believe that Paratici is now closer to returning to Tottenham, something which has paved the way for Tare to head to Milan.
