Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but Napoli and Chelsea are once again meeting to discuss Romelu Lukaku.
That’s according to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who reports on the meeting between the two sides today.
He states that the talks between Chelsea and Napoli have been ‘confirmed’, with the future of Lukaku on the table.
He’s been made a priority for Napoli and new manager Antonio Conte, who has put a reunion with him at the top of his wish list.
Napoli want to grant him that wish, and director of football Giovanni Manna is set to meet Chelsea executives at some point this afternoon to try and reach an agreement for the Belgian striker. Lukaku’s agent will also be present for the talks.
Manna is in London to finalise a deal for Brighton’s Billy Gilmour and Lukaku in one fell swoop. He already secured an agreement with Lukaku some time ago. It is only an agreement between Napoli and Chelsea that is missing.
He’s now working to find that in London and there’s a meeting scheduled today to try and push towards that.
Lukaku is currently training with Chelsea but wants the reunion with Conte, who he managed 64 goals for in 95 games during their time together at Inter Milan.
