Sent to Real Oviedo on loan for the season to get some game time under his belt, Rafa Mújica got anything but that.

Featuring for just 50 minutes spread over four league appearances, all from the bench, the Leeds United striker saw his spell there cancelled late in the transfer window by the Elland Road club.

Following that, he was immediately sent to UD Las Palmas, where he made his debut off the bench in a 1-0 loss against CE Sabadell this weekend.

The Leeds loanee failed to impact the game, but it was his first professional appearances since December 18th, and it will take time to get back on track.

However, it appears he has the trust of his director of football, Luis Helguera, who spoke to the media about two arrivals when asked about a potential move for Dani Ojeda, currently at Alcorcón.

He said, relayed by Tinta Amarilla: “While we value him, we are very happy with the arrivals of Jesé and Rafa Mújica”.

While not quite as stringent as Athletic Bilbao when it comes to limiting themselves to who they bring in, there appears to be a conscious effort to sign players born in Las Palmas, as shown by the two latest arrivals from Paris Saint-Germain and Leeds respectively.

That’s why Helguera was asked about Ojeda, as well as the potential return of Jonathan Viera, also born on the island.
