Earlier this week when Jean-Michaël Seri was first said to have agreed to join Fulham, Sport Witness was informed by a source close to the potential transfer that those claims were incorrect.
Fulham and Nice had agreed on a transfer for the midfielder, but he wasn’t especially keen on the move. We explained Fulham would have to be very convincing, and they clearly were.
But despite Seri signing for the London club, L’Equipe today go out of their to explain it’s not what he wanted.
The French newspaper state ‘He doesn’t join the Cottagers with a smile, even if his €5m gross annual must help to console him a little’, and say the destination is ‘puzzling’.
Seri had been ‘so close and so far’ from Chelsea, and earlier this window he’d been strongly linked with Napoli. That’s not to mention him almost moving to Barcelona last summer. It’s also stated Borussia Dortmund were keen but ‘asked for patience’, and Seri’s patience ran out.
Fulham have also signed Maxime Le Marchand from Nice, and the two deals are worth a combined €30-35m, according to L’Equipe.
