According to a claim in the Turkish media, Aston Villa made an attempt to sign Besiktas forward Semih Kılıçsoy during the last transfer window.
The Turkish international was linked with a move to the Premier League throughout the summer following his impressive performances for the Super Lig side last season.
Aslinda have reported on comments made by former Besiktas general manager Sinan Engin about Villa’s interest in the player and he’s claimed the Premier League tabled an offer of €15m for the youngster.
However, Engin went on to say Besiktas rejected the offer from the English side as they’re determined to keep hold of the talented youngster.
“Do you know that Aston Villa offered €15m for Semih Kılıçsoy and Besiktas did not accept it,” said Engin.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were also reportedly interested in signing the 18 year old during the summer window.
Kılıçsoy started 20 Super Lig games last season, scoring 11 goals. He’s contracted to the Black Eagles until June 2028, and seen as a player who can star for the club before he considers moving on elsewhere.
