West Ham United have progressed to the Europa League quarter-finals this season, where they are scheduled to take on Lyon in the two-legged tie.
The fixtures could give the French club an opportunity to take a closer look at Issa Diop, provided David Moyes were to give him minutes.
On Thursday, L’Equipe stated that Peter Bosz’s side are going after the ‘powerful’ centre-back as he is the ‘priority’ target for them in the next window. The Ligue 1 side wanting the Hammers defender is discussed again in today’s edition of L’Equipe.
The 25-year-old has endured a difficult campaign, and was forced to spend more time on the bench this season. He has been restricted to 17 starts in all competitions, out of which only nine came in the league.
Diop’s situation at the London Stadium has had no bearing on Lyon showing interest in him.
They are working to reshape their defence for next season and the West Ham player has been identified as their ‘priority’ target.
It’s further claimed that Lyon have held ‘discussions’ with Diop over a possible transfer in the summer. His contract at West Ham will run down in 2023.
