This week, multiple reports from England and Brazil have talked about West Ham United interest in Corinthians winger Wesley.
Outlet Meu Timão even came up with claims saying the Hammers placed a €15m bid for the youngster, and that was turned down by the South American side.
It turns out that people in Brazil are now finding this situation strange, as there’s no way Corinthians should’ve rejected that amount from West Ham. Journalist Jorge Nicola is one of those in that camp.
While detailing the bid, the reporter points out he doesn’t know ‘the reason’ for club president Augusto Melo to be so delighted with Wesley.
Nicola also claims he’d have accepted West Ham’s offer if he was the club chief, as that €15m could’ve been spent signing other players, such as Claudinho from Zenit, who ‘can’t even be compared’ to the youngster.
Earlier today, we had already covered claims from Band host Neto, who’s a Corinthians legend and doesn’t mind giving his strong opinions on TV. “I wouldn’t just sell him, I’d take him on a donkey and at the airport I’d upgrade him to first class and take him to West Ham,” he said, urging the club to sell.
So if West Ham’s bid is true, even if verbal, it’s safe to say that Corinthians will be under pressure to accept. Wesley is just a young prospect and the team, who haven’t won any of their last four matches, need the money to sign reinforcements.
