David de Gea doesn’t seem like the type to run to the media, the Spanish media especially, after being dropped.
But today there are many stories questioning whether Luis Enrique and his staff have made the right decision by going with Kepa for the past three matches.
Despite the Spanish media for months saying the Manchester United player should probably be dropped and replaced by Chelsea’s Kepa, now they’re questioning whether he should have been supported instead.
El Confidencial go with a headline saying: ‘The anger of David de Gea and the double standards of Luis Enrique’
It’s claimed the goalkeeper is ‘more disappointed than sad’, and El Confidencial say that whilst he’s been dropped because of a poor end to the season, that rule hasn’t applied to others, such as Isco, Asensio and Busquets.
Roberto Moreno is currently standing in for Enrique, as the latter takes a break from work due to personal reasons. On Isco, he said at the weekend: “If he wasn’t Spanish we’d have to nationalise him.”
He’s had a poor season, but is getting as much support as possible from the Spain camp.
Enrique’s decision, and it’s assumed he’s still calling the shots, is said to have hit De Gea, who ‘does not feel loved or valued in Spain’.
It’s reiterated he has the right to feel angry, but it appears those claims are coming more from El Confidencial than the player or those close to him.
Uncertainty at Manchester United is given as a potential reason for the 28 year old’s form, and it’s suggested he could benefit from a change.
