Earlier on Thursday, we covered the news that Axel Tuanzebe was left out of Napoli’s squad for the Europa League.
The decision was said to be Luciano Spalletti’s, who clearly had to make a choice that would have disappointed someone, and the Manchester United loanee was the unlucky one.
They didn’t really give a reason as to why the Red Devils man left out, but La Repubblica, relayed by Mondo Napoli, do.
They explain he has ‘so far only played one match’ as a starter for his new club, which came against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, and ‘in that circumstance, he disappointed on the occasion of Vlahovic’s goal’.
Basically, Tuanzebe, since his arrival from Manchester United, ‘did not affect Spalletti’s hierarchy’, with the manager deciding to continue with the Rrahmani-Juan Jesus pairing while Kalidou Koulibaly was at the Africa Cup of Nations.
This means the defender will have to make do with Serie A football whenever he gets a chance to get some minutes, which will be a frustration for him, as one of the reasons he went there was to get game time.
