Real Sociedad director of football Roberto Olabe is ‘very happy’ with the offer on the table from Arsenal and welcomes the offer from the Gunners.
That’s according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, who cover Olabe today as he’s spoken to the media about his departure from the Spanish club.
The newspaper insists that Arsenal are ‘very interested’ in his services, and he welcomes the offer from the club, although for now his focus remains on Real Sociedad.
Olabe has moved to clarify that he is not leaving Real Sociedad because he is going to join another club, and he has not yet made a decision for next season.
The newspaper says that, according to their information, Olabe has a desire to take a break and enjoy more time with his family once he leaves La Real. However, there is an offer from Arsenal, and he views their proposal ‘very favourably’.
His reputation in the Premier League is also high as they see him as the man who has been key to Real Sociedad’s success in recent years.
The drama is building in the meantime, with Olabe’s comments to the media not particularly dampening the flames.
“The structure of the decision itself is not based on the future. If in June 2024 we talk about June 2025 and we give ourselves a timing in which I give my commitment to continue working in a season that is not easy to manage, for me it would have been easier to say in June 2024 to say this far,” he said.
“I understood that it was important to continue working this season for the project. The timing of things right now, what I have is enthusiasm and commitment to finish this season, for cool things to continue happening in this club, for us to win something in June, which has already been a while, and I would like to win again.
“Later I need to listen to other conversations, from other areas, learn about other projects, observe other things to possibly reconnect. I don’t know what it’s going to be, I don’t have anything, I don’t have a date for anything. The dates for everything are what we have mentioned. There has been nothing external that has influenced that timing.”
