Greek website Sdna.Gr report Panathinaikos are edging closer to signing Newcastle United winger Callum Roberts and the player is keen on the move.
According to Sdna, the 22 year old has also had offers from Germany and the Championship, but it’s looking possible he will join the Greek club when his contract with Newcastle United expires in the coming weeks.
It’s reported Pana’s sporting director Nikos Dabizas, who played for Newcastle United during his career, travelled to England earlier this month to watch Roberts against Reading U23’s. The youngster impressed and scored in his side’s victory on penalties.
It’s claimed Dabizas held talks with Roberts and his agent after the game to explain Panathinaikos’ project and future vision of the club.
After the Newcastle United player’s conversation with the Greek club’s sporting director, it’s reported Roberts wants to join Panathinaikos to prove himself at first team level.
The youngster has struggled to get games with the Premier League side and was sent out on loan to Colchester United earlier this year.
