The sporting director of Carpi has told the Italian media he’s had contact with clubs with regards to signing his attacker Raphael Martinho. The Brazilian is on the verge of leaving Carpi, and has strongly been linked with Leeds United in the past 24 hours.
Speaking to TMW, Giancarlo Romairone was asked about the interest from the other clubs who are keen to sign Martinho this summer. Romairone confirmed there has been approaches for the 28-year-old, but as yet they haven’t entered into any talks.
The Carpi chief went on to say he doesn’t know whether the player’s agent has spoken to Bari about a move in this window.
“With the clubs there was direct contact. No negotiations yet. I do not know if Bari has talked with the agent of the player,” said the Carpi director
Yesterday we covered claims from Italy that Leeds United are keen to sign Martinho, and are one of the clubs on pole to buy the South American.
TMW have claimed the player is likely to head to England this summer after becoming surplus to requirements at Carpi.
