The sporting director of Stuttgart has told the German media none of his players will be leaving in the winter transfer window. Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim has been linked with a move to Leeds United, but it seems the Championship side will have to wait until the summer to land the Romania.
Speaking to Kicker, Jan Schindelmeiser was asked if any Stuttgart players would be leaving the club this month. The German side are on track to get promotion back to the Bundesliga, and Schindelmeiser has confirmed because of this he expects nobody to leave the club due to their objectives.
“We do not want to give away any of our players, we need to achieve our goals,” said the Stuttgart chief.
Earlier in the week there were claims coming out of Germany that Leeds United were showing an interest in Maxim. The Romania international has struggled to get games this season, and Leeds United have been monitoring his situation.
Yesterday the midfielder’s agent confirmed Leeds United had held ‘informal’ talks with regards to his client, but revealed he doesn’t expect him to exit Stuttgart in this window.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk has in the past tried to sign the player when he was the manager of Swansea City.
