Trabzonspor board member Haluk Sahin has claimed Leeds United loanee Caleb Ekuban wants to stay at the club beyond this summer.

The 24 year old is currently on loan with the Super Lig club and they have a right of redemption on the player.

Sahin has spoken to Gunes and he’s revealed the Turkish club are pleased with Ekuban’s contribution since the player arrived from Leeds United last summer. The attacker has scored some important goals and has forced himself into the starting eleven.

The Trabzonspor director added on the future of the forward: “We are looking to sign players in the summer who will cost less money, because we are in a tricky financial situation. We are also looking to give youngsters who came through our academy a chance.

“As you know, we have some loan players and Ekuban is one of them. He wants to stay at the club, and we want him to stay also. Let’s see what will happen.”

Trabzonspor have the option to sign Ekuban permanently for €1m and it seems they are ready to use it. The Leeds United man has gone on record to say he’s happy at the club and is open to remaining with them.

Ekuban played his first two games for the Ghana national team during this international break, scoring two goals.

The player joined the Championship side from Chievo Verona during the 2017 summer transfer window.
