Jordan Beyer has made 28 league appearances for Burnley and they’ve lost only once when he has started for the Clarets this season.
The centre-back arrived at Turf Moor on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach last summer. Earlier reports from the German press stated the Clarets have an option to buy him after this season.
Roland Virkus, the Bundesliga side’s sporting director, has not only confirmed the purchase option, but also specified the fee Burnley need to pay to buy the 22-year-old in the summer.
At Gladbach’s general meeting, the chief explained the club’s current sporting situation and their future plans. His comments are relayed by Kicker.
Regarding Beyer, he said: “There is a purchase option with a very high sum, €15m.”
Kicker state the defender is ‘unlikely’ to be part of the German club’s future next season. Gladbach are hopeful Vincent Kompany’s side, who have already achieved promotion back to the Premier League, will end up exercising the option to make Beyer’s stay permanent.
“We’re proud that we were able to develop a player [Beyer] from the academy who might now help us reshape the squad,” Virkus explained.
The EFL have placed Burnley under a transfer embargo, but those responsible at the club reportedly believe this will be overturned.
