Last December, Tutto Juve reported Aston Villa were among the clubs to have shown willingness to sign Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso in the winter market.

The Premier League side didn’t take the necessary steps in January but continue to have the 24-year-old on their agenda.

That’s according to today’s Tuttosport, who state Aston Villa director Monchi has been following the fullback for months and has put him in his sights, likely for the summer.

It’s also pointed out the Serie A side rejected Fulham’s approach last summer, when they were ready to offer €15m.

Operating as a fullback or wingback this season, the Italy international has been a regular under Massimiliano Allegri. He’s made 30 appearances, managing three goals and five assists in the process.

Cambiaso’s performances saw him make his debut for Italy last month and also encouraged interest from the Premier League, where Aston Villa are looking to sign him.

Tuttosport state Juve technical director Cristiano Giuntoli is ‘ready to resist Aston Villa’s courtship’ of the player, who has become ‘indispensable’ for the Turin club.

Therefore, the Old Lady will have a meeting with his agent to discuss a possible renewal with a small increase in salary. His current deal lasts until 2027.

It needs to be seen whether Monchi and the Villans can convince Cambiaso to leave Juve after this season.
