Girona director of football Quique Cárcel has contacted Manchester City to ask for a list of players his club would be able to sign on loan next season.

That’s according to Catalunya Radio, via Estadio Deportivo, who report that Cárcel wants to get ahead of the game and use the relationship with Manchester City as soon as possible.

Both clubs are owned by the City Football Group and so have regularly shared players, with several Manchester City youngsters spending time at the Spanish club over the years. Savinho moved from Girona to the Etihad last summer.

Cárcel is now planning for next season, and has contacted Pep Guardiola’s side to ask for a list of possible loanees. He wants to get ahead of the game and plan his squad accordingly with a list of options that might be available at the Etihad.

The two sides are waiting for UEFA approval to begin negotiations, but Girona want to speed up the process by identifying players that fit manager Michel’s needs early on.

The one name that ‘stands out’ for them is Claudio Echeverri, who has barely featured since his arrival from River Plate.

He is very popular at Girona, and they’d be more than keen to take him next season if Manchester City are willing to sanction it.
