AS Roma are considering signing Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré this summer, according to Forza Roma.
He hasn’t made an appearance for Manchester City since joining them from Belgian side KV Mechelen in July 2020. The right-back was sent out on loan to Troyes, Marseille and Luton Town since the start of the 2021/22 season.
Prior to his loan move to Marseille, Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi tried signing the 23-year-old for his former club, OGC Nice, in 2022.
The website points out that Nice offered €15m to buy him two years ago, but Manchester City didn’t entertain it. Ghisolfi has ‘always liked’ him and he could lead the Serie A side’s pursuit of the Burkina Faso international.
Kaboré isn’t included in Pep Guardiola’s plans next season. With a deal lasting until 2025, ‘there is a need’ for Manchester City to sell the player to avoid losing him for free next summer. His asking price is around €8-10m, and this is ‘within reach’ of the Italian club.
At this moment in time, Daniele De Rossi’s side haven’t opened negotiations for the right-back, but Forza Roma claim he could emerge as the main option soon.
Kaboré’s future is likely to be away from Manchester City and he’ll have to decide his next destination in the coming weeks.
