Djurgardens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson has revealed he only heard via Bristol City’s Twitter account that the deal to sign Gustav Engvall hadn’t been completed. Earlier today we covered comments Andersson made to another Swedish publication stating he still hopes to sign the Bristol City forward.
Aftonbladet have reported on Djurgardens finding out on social media that a deal for Engvall had fallen through, despite an agreement with Bristol City. The Championship side yesterday tweeted that Engvall would be returning to England due to Milan Đurić picking up an injury.
However, Andersson has confirmed Bristol City didn’t contact him personally to say they wanted Engvall back, and instead took to Twitter. On hearing this the Djurgardens director revealed he contacted Bristol City to find out what had happened with the Engvall deal. Andersson went on to say the player will remain with the Swedish club to train, but the forward isn’t happy with the events over the past 24 hours.
“I was given the same message as you. I got it on Twitter and then began to call. He is to train with us so it is clear that he was extremely surprised by the news and devastated,” said Andersson.
Today we reported Djugardens are still hopeful of getting a done with Bristol City before the Swedish transfer deadline.
