Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson and Malmo sporting director Daniel Andersson have confirmed the player is training with the Swedish club. However, Leeds United fans don’t need to be worried as the 26-year-old is just preparing for Sweden’s clash with France next month.

Fotbollskanalen have reported on comments made comments by Jansson when asked about his reasons for training with Malmo.  The defender said he isn’t carrying out any intense work as his objective is simply to remain in shape for the national team. Andersson also said the former Malmo star will always be welcome at the club.

“I’m is mostly in the gym and doing some ball exercises. This is his way to keep a feel for the ball and keep fit for the national team in June, first and foremost,” said Jansson.

Jansson joined Leeds United form Torino last summer, and was one of the Championship signings of the season. Leeds United fans have taken the Swede to their hearts, and the defender has never hidden his love for Malmo, another club where he was a cult hero.

The central defender made his name with the Swedish club and is held in the same esteem with their fans as he is by the Leeds United faithful.
