During the last summer transfer window Leeds United signed Pawel Cibicki from Malmo, but since arriving at Elland Road he’s failed to make an impact.
This weekend the winger again wasn’t included in Thomas Christiansen’s match day squad for the trip to Barnsley, and there are concerns in Sweden about the player’s performances in the past several months, and not just with Leeds United.
Fotboll Direkt have reported on Cibicki’s drop in form, despite his encouraging start to the season with Malmo back in the spring. The 23 year old had a successful spell with Slovenian side Jönköpings Södra last year, and things looked promising for the Swede when he returned to Malmo.
Cibicki hit the ground running for the Swedish champions, but started to struggle as the season went on, which continued in the Euro U21 championships. His contribution with Sweden U21s has been described as ‘directly weak’, as they crashed out at the group stages.
Despite his poor run of form, Cibicki still earned himself a move to Leeds United in August for a fee in the region of £1.9m. However, the youngster hasn’t played any minutes in the league, and his only games have come in the EFL Cup.
In recent weeks Cibicki hasn’t been part of Christiansen’s squads, and his future at Leeds United already looks uncertain.
