The Italian media are convinced there’s a possibility of N’Golo Kante leaving Chelsea this summer, although they accept it wouldn’t be an easy transfer to complete.
Given how the Frenchman’s position has changed, and with the assumption the Blues could chase Declan Rice’s signing soon, Kante’s potential exit has become a talking point.
Inter Milan have been credited with an interest, and various Italian reports have detailed Antonio Conte’s dream to be reunited with the midfielder. Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport looks at how this may impact Marcelo Brozovic.
The Inter Milan midfielder is said to be aware that his future is ‘increasingly’ away from the club. Gazzetta say he’s one of Inter’s big ‘expendable’ players who could be used to bait Chelsea over Kante.
The newspaper value the Croatian at €40m, and Kante at €50m, yet they say English claims of a swap deal present ‘a difficult hypothesis’. Inter would ‘welcome’ such a deal, so the slant seems to be that Chelsea would be the difficult party to convince.
A lot of this will depend on how Frank Lampard moves forward. Should Chelsea sign Rice, then Kante’s game time may be threatened, but it’s questionable whether they’d then need Brozovic as well.
Such a move is possible, and Inter would grasp it, yet it’s all down to Chelsea.
