Shining on loan at Fiorentina since joining the Serie A side from Arsenal in the summer, the belief is that Lucas Torreira should continue his career in Florence beyond this season.

The Serie A side want him to stay, and the player’s social media suggests he is enjoying life back in Italy, meaning the €15m option to buy inserted in the deal with the Gunners should be triggered.

However, Fiorentina, if they can, will try and lower the fee if they possible can, something which has been brought up in the past.

La Nazione, relayed by Firenze Viola, mention it again on Thursday, with it said they will ‘aim for a possible discount’ in negotiations, but it’s made clear that it will be ‘difficult for the British to accept’ this.

While it’s not specifically said why, the logic would be that Torreira is doing well, meaning there is no reason for Arsenal to agree to a drop in price.

They pre-agreed €15m for a reason, and that is likely the amount they want (and will likely get) for the Uruguay international.
