Massimo Donati’s playing career spanned close to two decades and he spent them in only two countries; Italy and Scotland, with Celtic, before retiring in 2018.
The 39-year-old’s first spell in Scotland was with Celtic and the Hoops took him from AC Milan in 2007.
After spending two seasons at Celtic Park, the former midfielder returned to Italy when Bari signed him in 2009.
In his first season with the Bhoys, Donati featured regularly, making 25 appearances in the league. However, the Italian lost his place in his second season at Celtic and that eventually resulted in his exit from the club.
Donati spent the 2003/04 season on loan at Sampdoria and he has now given an interview to the Italian club’s official channel. When summing up his playing career, he had only positives to say about his time at Celtic.
“I’ve changed a lot of clubs and for me it’s a positive thing. I like meeting new people, cities and cultures. The experience at Celtic was fantastic, in Scotland you can learn a different kind of football and life,” Sampnews24 quoted him as saying.
Donati was part of Angelo Alessio’s coaching staff at Kilmarnock before stepping down from his position at the Scottish club last summer.
