Watford’s win over Liverpool has drawn attention from the international media, because there had been a big coverage of the Reds’ unbeaten run in the Premier League.

And as the Argentine press covered the Hornets’ surprising win, they managed to interview one of their players, Ignacio Pussetto.

Speaking to TyC, the 24-year-old has explained that Watford weren’t having in great form, and that’s why a win over the Reds has meant a lot to the squad.

“Super happy for the win. We were having a bad time and against a great rival we could get a great triumph. People could not believe it,” Pussetto told TyC.

“We knew we could face a Liverpool that in this last time wasn’t the best. We took advantage of the mistakes that they made, we were focused, we didn’t let them think at any time.”

The fullback also had a nice story about swapping shirts with Mohamed Salah, even though he thought the Liverpool star wouldn’t be in a good mood to do it.

“I swapped my shirt with Salah, I went after the game. I was surprised by the kind of person, with beats a thousand, losing the game they lost, I thought that he wouldn’t answer. But I went to the locker room and he’s a very cool person. The shirt is for the museum here at home.”

Pussetto, who joined the Hornets in a €8m move from Udinese, has revealed that he actually had offers to return to Argentina, but he says he wants to stay in European football for now.

“The possibilities existed. At the time of Boca, Racing, I had the possibility to talk to people. I was always clear that I wanted to stay here, I want to continue my career here, I feel I have a lot to prove.”

He also made sure to leave a message for the fans of Huracan, the club who he played for before leaving for Europe in 2016.

“I hope someday I can come back, I took the best memories and they’re a club that helped me grow. I hope it’s in a few years.”
