On New Year’s Eve, Sportske Novosti reported Hajduk Split president Lukša Jakobušić will do everything he can to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Ivan Perišić in January. It was also said money is not a problem to carry out the operation.

The 34-year-old has less than six months left on his deal and has been sidelined with a serious knee injury since last September. That hasn’t stoped the Croatian club from considering an approach for him this month.

Hajduk Split sporting director Mindaugas Nikoličius has been speaking to the club’s media, where he also talked about the Tottenham player, and his quotes are relayed by SportSport.

Nikoličius has revealed his side will try to bring in new faces in the winter market, and the window in Croatia is open until mid-February.

With regards to the former Inter Milan player, the Hajduk Split official confirmed there have been discussions with Tottenham over a potential deal.

“Ivan is hurt, it’s too early. We have to see when he will recover, when he will be able to run and play,” he said.

“The transfer window here lasts until the middle of February and that is an advantage for us. There is a dialogue with Tottenham and we will make the best decision for everyone.”

According to SportSport, Hajduk Split fans have been dreaming about the Croatia international returning to the club. He spent six years with their academy before moving to Sochaux in 2006.
