With a contract expiring in 2022, Nikola Milenković’s future at Fiorentina beyond this season is regularly discussed by the Italian media.

Manchester United have repeatedly been pushed forward as his next possible destination in the past few weeks.

The Red Devils are presented as one of the main suitors, indeed the main one, for the 23-year-old.

Earlier this week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Old Trafford club held talks with the centre-back’s agent last summer and this gives them a ‘clear advantage’ in the transfer chase for the next market.

Four days ago, we covered claims made by Calciomercato that explained the Serbia international is a ‘concrete objective’ for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini has also suggested the player is expected to be going ‘towards Manchester United’, with the club pressing for him.

Milenković has so far decided against signing a new deal with La Viola and therefore, a farewell in the summer is ‘more than possible’.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who further explain the Fiorentina man is ‘destined for the Premier League’.

With the English club reportedly continuing to press for Milenković’s signing, the defender’s situation at Fiorentina should come as encouragement for United.
