Moussa Sissoko has so far played 68 Premier League minutes this season, which is probably 68 more than many expected from him.

Sissoko was all set to leave Tottenham at the end of last season, after a transfer from Newcastle United which hadn’t really worked out.

Mauricio Pochettino quickly became frustrated with the French midfielder, and even took the step of speaking about publicly to convey his disappointment.

The situation was of great interest to the French sport media who reported repeatedly that Pochettino and Sissoko had no real relationship, and a string of clubs were said to be interested in the player.

As well as French sides, interest was also also claimed from Everton and Real Madrid, with both seeming unlikely for different reasons. The only real effort to sign Sissoko seems to be coming from Turkey, and even that’s on a loan basis.

So, without a buyer, Pochettino has been including Sissoko in his plans, and giving the Frenchman minutes. Despite that, L’Equipe say the international is ‘still awaiting’ his prospective Tottenham transfer.

Of course, there’s no suggestion of where to… and that seems to be the big problem for Tottenham and Sissoko.
