Liverpool have been linked with Lorenzo Pellegrini on several occasions over the past month or so, with the Reds said to be interested in the AS Roma player.
The midfielder has a clause which allows him to leave the Serie A club for just €30m this summer, however, it’s thought that even in the case of an exit he wouldn’t want that triggered.
Barcelona have also been linked with the 25-year-old, and Corriere dello Sport report that ‘despite the flattery’ of Liverpool and the Blaugrana, Pellegrini is prioritising a stay in Rome.
He’s clearly bought into the new project being built under Jose Mourinho, and it’s stated the Rome born player, who came through the ranks at the club, wants to go down the same route as legends such as Francisco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.
Therefore he prioritises a renewal with Roma, and would be ignoring any winks from Liverpool, Barcelona or anywhere else.
Of course, this could all be an effort from the Italian media to build up a story of Pellegrini rejecting Europe’s biggest clubs out of love for his boyhood club.
