Linked with names such as Domagoj Vida, Mehdi Benatia and Dedryck Boyata, it’s safe to say Fulham are looking around Europe for a centre-back.
Wanting to improve their defence for the second half of the season, Claudio Ranieri’s side appear to be going through a very long list of names, crossing them off one by one.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday reveal another one, claiming both the Cottagers and Everton had made ‘attempts’ to sign Atalanta’s Gianluca Mancini, who is also a target for Wolverhampton.
No ‘concrete offer’ was put on the table, but the approaches from Fulham and the Toffees were ‘appreciated’ by the player, even if neither were ‘taken into consideration’.
With clubs such as Bayern Munich and (previously) Arsenal also circling, it’s understandable to see why that decision was taken, even if guaranteed football at Goodison Park or Craven Cottage might be better than sitting on the bench at the Allianz Arena for his development.
For now, however, Mancini simply wants to finish the current campaign in Italy in Bergamo before looking at what’s on the table.
