Ansu Fati put in a great performance for Barcelona on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, scoring a goal and adding an assist as the Catalan club beat Ferencvaros 5-1.
The youngster is hugely rated at Barca and there’s been repeat claims of interest from Manchester United, although that’s often felt like an effort from agent Jorge Mendes to help his client get a better package where he currently is.
Barcelona have this week announced several renewals, and given Fati was very much thought to be in the process of agreeing an extension, it was a surprise for Mundo Deportivo that the 17-year-old wasn’t among them.
Mundo state that Barcelona aren’t in a hurry, despite Mendes presenting a huge offer from Manchester United. That’s again put at around €150m, and it again feels like an effort to pressure those in charge at the Camp Nou.
Fati’s contract lasts until 2024, and they’re therefore unconcerned about the situation, not feeling any pressure from Mendes. With the agent likely to continue to push for a bumper new deal, Manchester United are destined to be dragged into the story again.
