Currently preparing the Championship playoff final where they will play Aston Villa after seeing off Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United, Derby County are also looking at potential targets for next season.

One of the areas they could bolster, according to Il Secolo XIX, relayed by Calciomercato, is their frontline, as Spezia’s David Okereke has allegedly caught the eye of the Rams’ scouts this season.

The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals and picked up 12 assists in 30 appearances, playing 71% of his team’s minutes this season, and a transfer is widely expected in the summer as Spezia will try and cash in while they can.

As well as Frank Lampard’s side, Atalanta (currently in a Champions League spot), Cagliari, Sassuolo, Genk, Standard Liège and Dinamo Zagreb are also keen on the Nigeria U23 international.

Derby’s transfer plans could change depending on whether they get the promotion they are seeking, so it will be interesting to see what happens to the Okereke rumour after May 27th.

Will it grow or will it disappear entirely depending on the result?
