Over the past few months, Luis Díaz has been linked with a move away from Liverpool.

The Colombia international’s contract lasts until 2027 but he could leave Anfield in the summer window.

On April 29th, Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra stated the forward will soon hold talks with Liverpool and this meeting will help him decide whether to sign an extension or find a new club.

Díaz got his name on the scoresheet in the Merseyside club’s 2-2 league draw against at home on Sunday. After the tie, he spoke to Telemundo Deportes and Caracol Radio have relayed his comments.

The 28-year-old joined the Premier League club from FC Porto in January 2022 and has expressed his desire to extend his stay with the Reds. He also explained there will be talks with Arne Slot’s side, but the final decision will be down to the club.

“Yes, happy. From the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team,” he said.

“We’ll be talking about it, we’ll talk about it [about the renewal]. For me, I would stay however many years it takes, it also depends on the club, everything. These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I’m happy and enjoying the Premier League.”

According to Caracol Radio, the South American currently earns £2.8m per year and isn’t in the top 15 earners at the club.

If there’s an extension, he would look to change that. Whether Liverpool will offer him a significant rise remains to be seen.
