Turkish football commentator Haldun Domac has revealed Galatasaray are still looking to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.
The Uruguay international has been linked with a move to the Turkish side in recent weeks, along with his Spurs’ teammate Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
Galatasaray have made it one their priorities this summer to bring in a central midfielder after releasing Tanguy Ndombele at the end of last season.
The Frenchman failed to make an impact in the last campaign and subsequently the Istanbul side didn’t take up their option to sign him from Tottenham on a permanent deal.
There have been reports Bentancur is an option to solve Gala’s issues in midfield and Domac has stated, as relayed by Milligazete, Galatasaray are showing persistence in their pursuit for the player.
“Fernando Muslera stepped in for Bentancur. ‘ Come to Galatasaray and let’s play together.’ His departure from Tottenham is in question. Muslera’s persistence could be a positive result,” said Domac.
According to Milligazete the Tottenham player has been contacted by Galatasaray, but previous claims in the Turkish say Emile Højbjerg is still their prime target.
Bentancur made 24 appearances last season, scoring one goal. He’s contracted to the Premier League side until June 2026.
